Conservative for BC Van Rassel-An open letter to James Moore MP
  Feb 28, 2007

February 28, 2007 An Open letter to my Member of Parliament
Mr. James Moore, Member of Parliament, House of Commons, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A OA6
“There are no Purple parties in Canada”
I could not help but notice in our two local papers, an advertisement/endorsement for a candidate for the vacated Coquitlam city council position involving you. It is clear in this advertisement that you support Ms. Reimer. I am not aware what Ms. Reimer’s provincial and federal party affiliation is, if any, and for the record, I do not approve of my federal MP ‘appearing’ to endorse a candidate without that candidate explaining the endorsement. In other words what are Ms. Reimer’s provincial and federal political affiliations?. In any political race, these questions in most democracies are absolutely valid. Political affiliations from all levels should be completely transparent.
I am not pleased that you have connected yourself to either Richard Stewart or Greg Moore, the former is a current Coquitlam city councilor and former BC Liberal MLA, and the latter is a Port Coquitlam city councilor and BC Liberal candidate/hack. As you know, I do not support this provincial BC Liberal hybrid party. One is either a Liberal or a Conservative in my view.
Where the straw breaks however relates to my attendance upon the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce in January of 2007 when federal Opposition leader Stephane Dion was the guest speaker. I witnessed Mr. Stewart ‘gushing’ (like a teenager meeting Bono of U2) when he met with and sat with Mr. Dion. (Frankly it made me embarrassed for Mr. Stewart particularly as I had only just recently gotten over the ‘ass-grab’ incident involving his fellow BC Liberal colleague from Surrey).
No reasonable person attending the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce meeting would NOT have come to the same conclusion as I did, that is, Richard Stewart CLEARLY supports Stephane Dion and the Liberal party of Canada. There is nothing that would change my mind on this count. Within the context of the newspaper advertisement/endorsement, I have come to the conclusion that you are not a federal Conservative as you say you are, but more a Liberal, based on the people in your riding executive, and the provincial and local politicians to whom you align yourself.
As it is, I must suspend any support I have for you until such time as I able to determine without doubt that you are who you claim to be, namely a Stephen Harper, Conservative Member of Parliament.
