Glen P. Robbins -- set to formally confirm his candidacy for leadership of the BC Conservative Party is announcing plans that when elected to govern he will introduce an independent civil commission in the province of British Columbia which will have complete oversight of all professional organizations within the province including: government, police, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and others.
Robbins says the commission will be named the B.C. Citizens Professional Oversight Commission (“B.C.C.P.O.C.”), and it’s authority will include all professional bodies who “receive any monies from government.” Robbins states that this will include teachers from private educational institutions who receive any government funding and lawyers who provide services to crown corporations like I.C.B.C.
Robbins states that “A majority of British Columbians will support the creation of this civilian commission to properly investigate complaints against professionals -- particularly when these professionals earn their livelihoods from the provision of taxpayer dollars.”
As Premier of the province of British Columbia Robbins wants to create “an absolute paradigm shift in terms of accountability of professional persons in the province in order to restore public confidence in them”.
Robbins indicates that the B.C.C.P.O.C. will replace the B.C. Ombudsman which currently accepts complaints about government -- and will be 'properly funded' to ensure that the average British Columbian is “no longer treated as second class citizens despite paying the wages of these professionals.”
