Glen P. Robbins -- seeking leadership of the BC Conservative Party vows that on the same day he is elected to the office of Premier of British Columbia he will:
(a) Tear up any agreement between the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada with regard to the Harmonized Sales Tax (“H.S.T.”); AND
(b) Declare War on Poverty in the Province of British Columbia--pledging resources and manpower sufficient to reduce poverty levels generally in the province to one half of present totals -- the worst in the country, and to work effortlessly and with personal dedication to extinguish child poverty in the Province of British Columbia.
Says Robbins “I find it disgraceful that we can find the time and resources to fly around the world in an alleged attempt to save it from “global warming” --while at the same time we cannot even properly feed the children of British Columbia.”
With respect to the issue of poverty, particularly children’s poverty Robbins adds “If I fail to meet the objectives I have promised herein within two years in office--I will immediately tender my resignation as Premier to the people of British Columbia.”
