| I am writing you on a couple of matters including extending an invitation to you and your family. |
| Recently, I read an article about a Family Guy cartoon episode. In the cartoon a young lady and school chum of Chris's, (the teenage son of the main family in the cartoon),
became the focus of Chris's romantic inclinations. The young lady was described in the cartoon as the daughter of a former Alaska Governor. This young lady had Down Syndrome. During their date and afterward, the young lady continually bossed Chris around and is generally mean to him--a bully of sorts. There are some who believe this particular episode was too much considering that you are THE former governor of Alaska, and you are the mother of a learning disabled child. |
| On it's face, this would likely be a common interpretation, however I believe that what the cartoon actually did was promote that children with learning disabilities can be just as 'normal' in their pursuit of accomplishments and enjoyment of life as 'other' normal children. |
| This takes me to my second matter. With the idea of 'special' people in mind, let's give some thought to the second half of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games -- The Winter 2010 Paralympics Games. |
| You are the former Governor of Alaska, and vice-presidential candidate in the most recent U.S. Presidential election. I am currently seeking the leadership of the BC Conservative Party. I believe considering some of our mutual interests (including geopolitical) that an invitation to you and your family to the 2010 Olympic Games and/or Paralympics is appropriate at this time. |
