(97%) of decided respondents in this poll DO NOT support the Canadian government permitting higher per cent ownership of BC Resource companies by large Chinese multi- national corporations?
Both BC’s outgoing Premier Campbell and BC NDP Opposition leader Carole James have low numbers of “most support” among respondents in relation to their “least support”.
Gordon Campbell’s support generally has more than doubled since he announced he was resigning. Carole James support is much lower than support for her party. The Premier’s problems may be nearly over - Ms. James are (apparently) just beginning.
The flip side of this is that over the past week during this polling period, the BC Liberal Party has tanked in public support compared to the Opposition BC NDP.
Political events involving BC Liberal MLA Bill Bennett openly discussing the dysfunctional leadership style of Gordon Campbell - injured the BC Liberal Party badly. Gordon Campbell has already paid for his sins, now the party and particularly the Cabinet are seen as dishonest as the Premier is/was - and chances for a successful resurrection do not look good as public support for the New Democratic Party remains much higher despite the relatively low support for their leader Carole James.
The high number of respondents who do not support either the BC Liberal Party or the BC New Democratic Party seriously adds to the problems of the BC Liberal Party and will likely provoke further discussion regarding an entirely new third party in the province to challenge the BC New Democrats.
